116 Youth Ministry

What is 116?

116 is the youth ministry connected to The River Community Church. It is and has been lead by Pastor Ray Snesrud and his wife and partner in the ministry, Dawn since 2001. They are very passionate about seeing the youth of Faribault walking in right relationship with God and each other. We believe in the Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit intimately working in the life of every believer for the purpose of building up the church on the whole Earth. We believe the scriptures are the divine Word of God. We believe that every word in the bible is perfect and correct and that the Word of God is the authority that we base our faith on. As the name of 116 implies, we believe in sharing our faith and love for Jesus with anyone that will listen. We believe that it is the goodness of our Lord that causes a person to change and we tell everyone we can, that God loves them so much that he took out all of His wrath on His Son so that we can know Him and do life with Him.

We are 116 and we will not tone it down!

We believe that our God is a God that shows His amazing love with power! He can and does desire to take people from where they are in life, and transform them into the perfect image of His Son, Jesus Christ. We are patient with each other as this will not happen quickly. Our God is a God that heals, a God that loves, and a God that still shows His love and power today in the same ways that are shown to us in the bible. The hope of 116 is that we would rise up a generation of people that stop believing the lie that says “God is mean and limits my fun.” The truth is, we are personally loved by Him, He is crazy about each of us, and he wants us to find our purpose for life in Him. We exist to help teens do just that.

"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile."

Romans 1:16

116 Weekly Events

Sunday Mornings:
Starting at 10:30am and going until 12:00pm, our Sunday morning service is currently held at the Paradise Theater on Central Ave across from Sub Way. Contemporary worship music fills the air starting at 10:30, and after the high energy worship you can expect to hear teaching by Senior Pastor Steve Crombie. Come hungry for the word and solid teaching that is applicable to where ever you are in your walk with God. Or come just to investigate the claims of Jesus.

Second Sunday Night of the Month:
Communion, starts at 6:00pm on every second Sunday night at the Paradise Theater, unless otherwise stated. At this meeting we hunger and thirst for the presence of God as we celebrate Communion, (remembering what Jesus did for us). Accompanied with a short teaching and taking of Communion, this service is sure to knit you in with other believers who celebrate Jesus.

Monday Nights:
On Monday nights at the River Office, we have a prayer meeting from 7:00pm-8:15pm. 116, being the youth ministry of the River Community Church, also goes to this meeting. In this meeting (led by Senior Pastor Steve Crombie) we read, pray, and sing through the scripture. It is a wonderful way to train yourself to agree with what God is saying in His Word. It is also a great time to come and stand in the gap for our city and the church.

Wednesday Nights:
Starting at 7:00pm every Wednesday is our 116 Youth Meeting (held at the River Office), where you can expect to hear a word from our Youth Pastor, Ray Snesrud, or one of the other 116 leaders. You can also come expecting a presence filled worship session after the word is delivered. Our youth meetings are normally described as being "very intense," our explanation (if any were needed) is that we really just are not ashamed.

Thursday Mornings:
On Thursday mornings 116 has a youth prayer meeting at the River Office starting at 7:00am and going until 8:00am. During this meeting (led by 116 Youth Leader Jake Moline) there is a short teaching that explains the direction of that prayer meeting, and shows everyone the scripture that will be used. And for the remainder there is worship and prayer time, as we pray to seek God's direction, guidance, and fire for the day and our lives.

Friday Nights:
Friday Night Fire! Every Friday night 116 holds a 7:00pm-9:30 prayer meeting at the River Office. This meeting (led by 116 Youth Leader Chris Ness) starts with a short teaching from the word which directs the focus of the evening. Then moves into an extended time of worship and prayer. Come expecting to be changed by the very Spirit of God.

Tuesday and Saturday:
Nothing is officially going on Tuesday or Saturday, but you will undoubtedly find groups of 116 students hanging out and doing life together any day of the week. 116 also has 8 small groups that meet different nights of the week. These groups are led by a team of young adults who are in close relationship with Pastor Ray and Dawn.

You may think religion is lame, and in many ways we would agree; that is why we pursue a relationship with God rather than dead rituals and ideas. Confident in His love for us, we believe that He will accept us just as we are and that He loves us too much to leave us there."

COME TASTE AND SEE THAT THE LORD IS GOOD!
